Maintenance Action
Reason Details:
Objective change and z-drive operation produced abnormal noise and intermittent jamming.
Action Details:
Inspected the objective and z-drive system, found and replaced one cable with a bad connection, re-seated the PFS mirror that had shifted out of position and caused mechanical jamming, and cleaned accumulated dirt from the affected mechanism.
Status After Fix:
LIMITED

Additional Notes

Maintenance report: objective change issue is fixed. The system was checked end-to-end. A faulty cable connection was identified and replaced. The issue was reproducible until the root cause was confirmed as a displaced PFS mirror that intermittently jammed the mechanism. After re-seating the mirror and cleaning dirt from the assembly, movement returned to smooth operation. The microscope remains in limited status due to separate unresolved issues: increasing laser startup delay, occasional camera errors, and a SlideBook montage definition problem in the Y-direction.
